The Durham Museum invites the community to a free virtual presentation featuring Zelda la Grange, former private secretary to Nelson Mandela. La Grange joins us live from South Africa for this unique eyewitness perspective.

ABOUT THE PRESENTER
Zelda la Grange was born in apartheid South Africa. After her secondary education, she completed a 3-year National Diploma and started her career in 1992 at the Department of State Expenditure. In 1994, she applied for a job as a senior ministerial typist in Nelson Mandela’s office, just after he became President. In 1997, Zelda was promoted to become one of Mandela’s private secretaries. Then in 1999, he hand-picked her from his personal staff to remain in his services beyond retirement. Zelda served President Mandela in various capacities over 19 years including Executive Personal Assistant, Spokesperson, Manager of Stakeholder relations, Aide-de-camp and Manager of his private office until his death on December 5, 2013.
In 2014, she published her memoirs entitled “Good Morning, Mr Mandela”. It is a story of love and hope in which Zelda shares how serving Nelson Mandela has had an impact on her life. She inspires through storytelling and shares some of the most private and public moments during her time at the side of the international statesman. Zelda has been recognized by a number of organizations for her dedication and service to the late Nelson Mandela and continues to inspire people through motivational speaking by sharing her life experiences at engagements around the world.

ABOUT THE EXHIBITION
Nelson Mandela: The Official Exhibition, on display through July 3 at The Durham Museum, is the major new global touring exhibition that takes visitors on a personal journey through the life of the world’s most iconic freedom fighter and political leader. Presented in association with Round Room Live, the exhibition is an immersive and interactive experience that features previously unseen film, photos and the display of over 150 historical artifacts and personal effects on loan from the Mandela family, museums and archives worldwide.
This exhibit is produced by Round Room Live in partnership with The Royal House of Mandela (RHoM) and RHoM Investments.
