Free Community Event to celebrate 160 Years of the Omaha Police Department
The Durham Museum is proud to partner with the Omaha Police Department for a new exhibit entitled, “Omaha Police: Answering the Call Since 1857,” in celebration of the department’s 160 year anniversary. Since 1857, the men and women of the Omaha Police Department have been keeping Omaha’s citizens safe. This exhibition is drawn from the Omaha Police Department’s historic archive of original artifacts including uniforms, photographs and more. See a retired bomb robot, vintage firearms and the contents of an authentic Crime Kit. From the early days of patrolling on foot, to the establishment of a 9-1-1 phone line, to the high-tech equipment and training of today, the Omaha Police Department continues to serve and protect its citizens. This exhibit is just one example of the ways in which The Durham partners with community groups to showcase their history. The exhibit is on display May 13-September 24, 2017.
The exhibition is supported by the First Responders Foundation.
