Durham Museum Launches Redesigned Website

The Durham Museum launched an updated www.durhammuseum.org today, with a new user experience and design that places Union Station and Art Deco architecture center stage, facilitates easy navigation of visitor information, and encourages engagement with the museum’s collections and exhibits. The redesign focuses on ease of use for the visitor while preserving the cultural heritage of the museum.

Key features of the redesigned site include:
• An interactive historic timeline focusing on the path from Union Station to The Durham Museum.
• A new design—focusing on our home, Union Station— with a clean look-and-feel, simplified navigation and improved layout.
• A responsive design giving users the best result on a myriad of devices (smartphones, tablets, etc.)
• Dynamic photography and video to engage the visitor with the museum’s history and exhibits.
• An improved calendar that allows visitors to search by category and keyword with the ability to register for many programs and events online.

Christi Janssen, Executive Director of The Durham Museum, said, “We are thrilled at the way the site turned out and feel it is a wonderful reflection of the museum, our offerings and Union Station. The timing of the redesign was serendipitous with the National Historic Landmark designation. We send our sincere thanks to Nebraska Tourism for making it possible.”

Originally launched in 2005, the museum website had not been thoroughly updated since that time. The new website is a major initiative of The Durham’s Marketing Department, in partnership with Chip Thompson Design, and produced in part by a grant from the Nebraska Tourism Commission. Staff from many areas around the museum contributed content and expertise to the initiative.
