Free Admission at The Durham Museum
The Durham Museum is celebrating International Museum Day on May 18 with FREE admission
The Durham Museum is proud to offer free admission to the community on International Museum Day, Saturday, May 18, 10AM-4PM. Thanks to a generous and anonymous donation, guests will experience the museum free of charge.
“Our donor’s generous gesture has made it possible for families to enjoy, for free, a day of discovery and learning,” said Director of Communications Dawn Myron. “If you haven’t been to The Durham Museum or haven’t been lately, it’s the perfect chance to explore the museum. Climb aboard passenger trains from the 1940s, view beautiful Art Deco architecture and visit fascinating exhibits—all in one place!”
Guests will have an opportunity to visit TOYTOPIA before it closes a weekend later (Sunday, May 26). The hands-on exhibition, developed by Stage 9 Exhibits, transports guests into a world of play and nostalgia, where they can discover the origins of their favorite toys, who made them and why they continue to be beloved. The exhibit is the ultimate playground for all ages, featuring the world’s largest Etch A Sketch, a life-size Monopoly car, a life-size dollhouse, retro arcade area, LEGO®-brick building areas and much more!
TOYTOPIA was created by Stage 9 Exhibits and is distributed by Exhibits Development Group. The exhibition is supported locally by Valmont Industries; Kiewit Companies Foundation; Douglas County, Nebraska; Parker Family Foundation; Verhalen Family Foundation; McGill Restoration; Kathi and Louie Rotella, Jr.; and Richard Brooke Foundation. Media support provided by KETV.
