2023 SUMMER Workshops

The Durham Museum offers a variety of summer workshop experiences for daycares, summer school programs, summer camps and more! Workshops are available for groups of 10 or more and recommended for ages 5-12. All workshops are customized to the size of your group and can be booked Monday-Friday from June 5 to August 4.

Available Workshops

Towers of Tomorrow With LEGO Bricks

Towers of Tomorrow With LEGO® Bricks

Towers of Tomorrow with LEGO® Bricks

Explore our summer exhibition featuring 20 skyscrapers from around the world built entirely from LEGO® bricks. After enjoying a guided tour, including LEGO® versions of the Empire State Building, the Chrysler Building, Shanghai Tower and more, students will construct their own LEGO® creations based on specific problem-solving challenges.

What’s for Lunch?

Do you have a favorite childhood lunchbox? Check out The Lunchbox: Packed with Pop Culture, a special exhibition featuring lunchboxes and lunchbox artwork from local collector Mark Kelehan. Following your tour, students will learn about food groups and budgeting when they pack their own lunch (using pretend food!).

Log Cabin Living

Head west with the pioneers to our historic log cabin replica! After a tour of our covered wagon and a trip to the log cabin, students will have a chance to do classic pioneer chores and play pioneer games, just like they did almost 200 years ago on the Great Plains.

History Mystery

Can you help us solve the Case of the Cryptic Curator? An important artifact is missing, and our team needs your help to decode the clues and recover the item! Can your group solve the case before time is up? Find out during our History Mystery workshop.

In order to accommodate the scheduling needs of all groups, we will customize the arrival and departure times for your group. Please plan on approximately 45 minutes to 1 hour per group of 25 students.
