Serious Fun starts Feb 7: “Get Building! Bricks at the Durham”

(Omaha, Neb.) — The Durham Museum is partnering with Lincoln and Omaha Lego User Group (LOLUG) to create a fun new interactive experience for brick builders of all ages. Get inspired by extraordinary builds from the LOLUG team, then create your own masterpiece at a construction area where visitors can free build to their heart’s content. A great activity to shake off cabin fever or get inspired for your next big build, this exhibit will be available from February 7 through May 3.

  • Omaha’s Union Station – Home of The Durham Museum, peek inside to admire the accurate interior.
  • Nebraska Landmark Map – This build has over 20 significant sites across the state.
  • WoodmenLife Tower – A tribute to the tallest building in Omaha for over 30 years.
  • Nebraska State Capitol – The tallest building in Lincoln is also represented in the exhibit.
  • Omaha Streetcar –A city staple that vanished in 1955 but a new version is set to return soon.
  • Carhenge – A brick-built homage to Nebraska’s famous roadside attraction.
  • Kennefick Park Locomotives – Up-close versions of Big Boy No. 4023 and Centennial No. 6900, which usually greet travelers from their overlook at Lauritzen Gardens.

“We wanted to create a space where history isn’t just something you look at, but something you can build yourself,” said Scott Eastman, director of marketing & PR. “Partnering with LOLUG allows us to showcase incredible local talent while giving our visitors the tools to become creators themselves.”

LOLUG is dedicated to promoting the Lego hobby and is one of the largest user groups in the country. The group organizes several events annually, including Brick Days in Lincoln and Omaha. Members meet monthly to share project ideas and participate in competitions, drafts, and building challenges.
