The five collections highlighted in Picture This span from the 1890s to the 1970s. They include daredevils flying through the air, rural Nebraska life, Omaha studio portraits, and photographs for advertisements.

All of the photographs displayed are part of The Durham Museum’s expansive collections. With over 700,000 images, these forty photographs highlight only a fraction of the stories The Durham Museum Photo Archive can tell.

Every year, The Durham Museum college interns assist our efforts in
providing educational and entertaining opportunities for the public.

In the summer of 2012, six summer interns selected and digitized these photographs, researched the collections, and wrote the labels for the Picture This: Photographs from the Durham Museum Photo Archive exhibition.
